More information

Vibrant, contemporary Taranaki, and its capital New Plymouth, offers a cultural, cool and distinctive destination for visitors as well as a growing number of events. Located halfway between Auckland and Wellington on the west coast of the North Island, Taranaki is easily accessible with daily flights from Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and a scenic drive will take 4-5 hours from Auckland or Wellington.

At the heart of Taranaki is Taranaki Maunga which is home to more than 200k of walking and hiking trails suitable for all levels of ability. The region also has a flourishing art scene and our rich volcanic soil has the region known as the ‘Garden of New Zealand’ with Pukekura Park the jewel in New Plymouth’s crown. The region is also known for its surf and a journey along Surf Highway 45 is a must to explore these surf spots, the black sand beaches as well as the small villages and cafes along the way.

Taranaki was once judged the world’s second-best regional destination by influential global travel guide Lonely Planet. The award labelled the region an ‘undiscovered gem’ and when it comes to delivering memorable and seamless conferences and events, and leaving delegates inspired and impressed, Taranaki has it.
